(Source: ispellets.com) We are thrilled to announce that on the 2nd April 2023, Indochina Sustainable Pellets JSC (ISP) has been granted the Investment License for the development and construction of its first wood pellets plant capacity of 150,000mtpa. The license handling was witnessed by the Prime Minister Phạm Minh Chính and other Ministers and local authorities as part of the Conference on Master Planning Announcement and Investment Promotion of Khanh Hoa Province.
During the conference, our wood pellets plant has been selected as a role model for sustainable investment. Locating in the poorest area of the Province, ISP Khanh Hoa wood pellets plant poses a positive impact on society, accelerates the global transition to green energy, promotes afforestation schemes in the region, and brings foreign currencies into the country.
With an initial registered investment amount of 206bn VND (equivalent to US $8.8m) followed by a recent revision to 350bn VND (equivalent to $15.0m), our state-of-the-art ISP Khanh Hoa plant commits to being the leading manufacturing facility in the country in terms of product quality, sustainable sourcing, dust control system and energy efficiency during operation.
In addition, the operation of our first pellets plant, as part of our master initiative of creating a fully integrated biomass supply chain, will address 6 Sustainable Development Goals:
- Goal 7: Affordable and clean energy, by producing high-quality wood pellets as a sustainable and renewable energy source.
- Goal 8: Decent work and economic growth, by creating employment opportunities and contributing to the local economy.
- Goal 10: Reduced inequality, by promoting inclusive and sustainable economic growth that benefits all stakeholders.
- Goal 11: Sustainable cities and communities, by investing in sustainable infrastructure and contributing to the development of a more sustainable society.
- Goal 13: Climate action, by reducing greenhouse gas emissions and promoting the use of renewable energy sources to combat climate change.
- Goal 15: Life on land, by promoting afforestation schemes and responsible land use practices that help preserve and protect natural ecosystems.
During the conference, the Prime Minister appreciated our idea of using biomass bamboo as one of the raw materials for our wood pellets plant. If successfully implemented, the program can contribute to the re-planning of the material area, promote biological diversity, and reduce the single-crop area of acacia planting in the central provinces of Vietnam.
Furthermore, Mr. Truong Gia Binh, Chairman of FPT Corporation – the largest ICT company in Vietnam, discussed the potential cooperation to digitalize the ISP’s feedstock supply chain in accordance with Circular 27/2018/TT-BNNPTNT, which regulates the management and traceability of forest products issued by the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development. Both parties also discussed the application of digitization in the forestry development process and the implementation of the Smart Forestry Scheme in Vietnam.
